Estate
Planning, Trust Administration & Probate

Everyone should have an estate plan in place to manage their affairs and distribute assets according to their wishes. The components of an estate plan include a will, a revocable living trust, an advanced health care directive, and a durable power of attorney.

We handle California estate planning for our clients, and the work also covers trust and estate administration.  Representative matters that we handle include:

  • Wills

  • Revocable trusts

  • Power of attorney for financial matters

  • Health care decision planning

  • Inter vivos gifts, such as outright gifts, gifts in trusts, gifts benefiting minors, and inter spousal gifts

  • Estate and gift tax issues

  • Gift and estate tax return preparation

  • International and non citizen transactions

  • Employee benefits and IRAs

  • Executive compensation and stock options

  • Charitable giving

Trusts and Estate Administration

We represent trustees, executors, and beneficiaries in connection with the administration of trusts and estates after death. The work involves helping clients understand the estate planning documents (will or trust), and advising trustees and executors on their fiduciary duties.

Probate Litigation

We also handle probate litigation matters, and our firm has been involved in several probate litigation matters over the years, representing the surviving spouse, the decedent's mother, children, heirs, and other beneficiaries.  An estate plan can help to avoid costly litigation in probate court.

Business Planning Services

Our business planning services include forming and advising the operation of CA limited liability companies, advising CA partnerships, and advising clients on decisions about the form and structure of their businesses. We also handle buy-sell agreements dealing with the transfer of business interests due to death, retirement or other contingencies.
